Being a popular health food restaurant with lots of staff and customers coming in and out, Playa Bowls came to Grip Tech looking for a safe and durable concrete floor that would support their business needs. The floor had to be able to withstand the constant foot traffic and everyday spills, while also aligning with Playa Bowls’ esthetic and sustainability practices, according to the contractor’s latest case study.
The report reveals that the Grip Tech technicians installed an Elite Crete epoxy flake floor with a polyaspartic topcoat. Epoxy flake floors feature decorative flakes broadcast in the base coating while it’s still wet. The flakes are resistant to oils, chemicals, and wear and tear, and come in a variety of colors, giving clients the opportunity to create a design that suits their space.
For the topcoat, the technicians applied a polyaspartic coating, which is a mix of hardliner and resin that gives a metallic, marbleized finish. Polyaspartic coating has a fast dry time, which allowed for the project to be completed in one day and the restaurant to operate as normal by the following day.
Grip Tech also explains the techniques they used to prepare the space for the epoxy floor installation. Using a dustless grinding process, they first filed the floor down to make it smooth and even. This was then followed by an application of clear coat sealant.
